YFU PARTNERS TO ORGANIZE YES 2021
We delighted to organize YES together with LIBERTY Creative Europe. It is an exciting international arts programme exploring and celebrating freedom, led by ArtReach.
The Young Europeans’ Seminar (YES) aims to contribute to the development of young global citizens through learning and volunteering together in a spirit of international friendship. The YES is a yearly massive intercultural get-together for about 500 European exchange students at the end of their school year, all put together by a team of over 100 YFU volunteers.
The YES is a unique opportunity to reunite with old friends from all over Europe and make new ones, while creating a bridge between the exchange year and the return home. It’s a fun learning experience where students explore what it means to be a citizen of the world through a diverse range of interactive learning activities. The international team of volunteers work very hard to create a unique spirit and an amazingly motivational experience for everyone at the YES.

LIBERTY Creative Europe Programme
Led by UK cultural development charity, ArtReach, LIBERTY is an ambitious and innovative creative response to current challenges facing the European Union. At a time of significant change for Europe – with the substantial movement of people and arrival into Europe of refugees; disturbing breakdown in community cohesion, focused by the terrorist threat; and the implications of BREXIT (and other possible EU structural change) – ArtReach and partners want to focus on the positive impact of creative integration through art and culture, helping to forge a new sense of identity and place (both locally and Europe-wide) with strong engagement from young people. We also want to significantly develop and enhance the process of artist and artistic collaboration and audience development that previous ArtReach-led Creative Europe projects have initiated. Our commitment is to the engagement of young artists and young audiences.
LIBERTY brings together 12 cultural partners from 10 countries, partners with shared values and commitment to high-quality artistic commissioning, audience development and engagement of young people. LIBERTY will forge a vibrant curatorial and development team, enabling artists and cultural professionals to work together over three years, commissioning at least 75 new collaborative works from 750 young artists that are presented as free access events across Europe and with transnational circulation.
The YES 2018 will take place in Werbellinsee (Germany) from 25 to 29 June 2018. It is organised by EEE-YFU together with YFU France, YFU Germany, YFU Turkey, and YFU Serbia.
“Time for peace. Act now!” is the topic of the YES 2018. This year, it is the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I and therefore, we would like to explore and discuss the role that young people play in shaping peaceful societies, within and outside the European borders.
What can we learn from the past? How can we build and maintain peace starting today? What is our role as young change-makers? How can we deal with the conflicts within Europe and at its borders? In this growing interconnected world, how do conflicts which are happening elsewhere affect our society?
The YES 2018 wants to give participants the chance to question their views, and develop critical thinking around the meaning and impact of conflicts and peace in our daily lives. It will encourage the participants to make use of their unique experiences and insights of exchange students to act as peace ambassadors.
